Midwood Avenue

If you played football in street, played chase on bicycles in the Kmart parking lot, ever went sledding down Belcher Hill (snow or not) you probably lived on or around Midwood Ave.

We have suffered a loss in our gang. Erlene Jones , Mother of J.R., Marie and Brenda passed last week. Please keep them in your hearts and prayers this holiday season.

I lived at 400 Belcher Drive and had a great time growing up in this part of Midfield. Coming down Belcher Drive on a garbage can lid in the snow, hanging out with Curtis Thompson and Keith Hill, riding bikes and playing smear football in our front yard. Those are just a few of the memories of a wonderful childhood.

Jimmy Goodwin lived on Woodward Road from the time we got there (Spring 1977) until the 80's (he moved out when he got married for a while but his mom still lived there). I know he lived there in 1996 cuz I ate spaghetti at his house that his daughter cooked. He lived at my Mama & Daddy's house in Tarrant for awhile in the late 90's before Daddy died (1-12-2001 R.I.P.)
You asked......Where u at, James?

I drove down it the other day going home from Mama & Granny's in Bessemer - couldn't resist. 329 is some funky grey-blue color now. The last time before I was on Midwood, I stopped to visit the Burchfield's in 1996 (everybody except Lee was there) on my way to go shooting with Jimmy Goodwin when he still lived on Woodward Road. Dang, time gets away, don't it?
