Profile Information

Current Hometown:
Wilton, CT (suburb of NYC)
About Me:
I have lived in and around New York City since 1978, married to Carol for over 30 years now with 2 great kids. Our son is certified EMT and actually saved a student's life while attending boarding school! He is now a college freshman and plays on the rugby team. Our daughter is a senior in high school where she studies unusual languages such as ancient greek, latin and arabic. She has also become an excellent musician and plays first violin in the school orchestra. She will be attending college in Florida this coming fall.
I went to Univ of Alabama then Univ of Illinois for grad school and I've worked in advertising and publishing since then. I was working in Manhattan on 9/11/01 during the terrorist attacks and subsequently lost several neighbors where I live now. I mention that not because it defines who I am but because we should never forget what happened.
I miss Alabama a lot and try to get back to Orange Beach as much as I can and of course to the Golden Rule in Birmingham. (Sure can't find good BBQ here in CT!) Nice website for MHS!
Favorite Music:
I really love all types of music. One of my fondest memories was second row center at a Black Sabbath concert at Boutwell auditorium ;). Favorites still today are Grateful Dead, Beatles, Stones, Alison Krauss, Byrds, Pink Floyd, LedZep, Who, Hendrix...I guess Im still stuck back in the high school days for music!
Favorite TV Shows:
Lately I'm enjoying all the old sitcoms that are now in syndication like Beverly Hillbillies, Samford and Son, Lucy, Adams Family. But I also like Sopranos, Six Feet Under, nature shows and most anything in Hi Def, especially those great concerts on Rave HD ;)

Gun Control

Posted on January 12, 2013 at 10:58pm 4 Comments

Just wanted to post some comments about the controversy of gun control that we are faced with today.  The argument to ban so called “assault weapons” is they are not needed for hunting or sport and are therefore only a means for criminal mass murder and destruction of human life.   However, when you consider the Second Amendment that specifically states,“The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”, it’s obvious the spirit of this amendment was not referring…

Boycott to Lower Gas Prices?

Posted on February 28, 2012 at 7:30am 1 Comment

Would boycotting a single gas company, like Shell (but could be any of them) force them to lower gas prices?  Maybe not a good idea to put a stop date on the boycott, but set a certain price reduction that would lift the boycott. Meanwhile, everyone buys from all other gas stations as usual.  Granted, it would be very difficult to organize and pull this off, but let’s pretend it happened.  Would Shell be forced to lower their prices?

Prayers and Thoughts for Terri Smith Adcock

Posted on May 12, 2009 at 10:52am 12 Comments

Please say prayers and good thoughts for Terri Smith Adcock, class of 1974, who goes in for surgery at UAB hospital tomorrow May 13th. This will likely be followed up with chemo therapy treatments over next several months. I know she is friends with many people here and she would appreciate your support during this time. All the best Terri!!

Thanks for the "friend" invite. I enjoy the MHS site and meeting new friends and revisiting the old ones. You ever think of opening a BBQ joint up there in CT, or should some things just remain in the south? Do they know what "Sweet Tea" is there? I worked out in Colorado and Nebraska for a while on several occasions and if you asked for sweet tea out of habit or whatever, they acted like you were speaking Chinese or something. They just couldn't grasp why sweeten the tea before you serve it. We even tried to get them to make us southerners some sweet tea one time and I thought they were gonna tar and feather us.
