I've been married to Diana (Key) since 1987. She is a Fairfield grad (Class of '78). We never had children, but have enjoyed spoiling and taking care of eachother.
After Midfield, I graduated from Alabama and UAB and have taught psychology and behavioral studies since 1985. I have been with what was then Walker College and is now Bevill State College since 1987.
I also teach Aikido at the College. I have my 6th degree blackbelt (which is actually red and white) in Aikido.
Dharma bum, tattooed muscian and dojo riff-raff are also terms that may describe who I have become so far.
The folks at the Graysville Church of Christ have let me preach for them (despite myself) for over twenty years.
I also play guitar with a band called "Lucky's Band" out of Birmingham and a band called "The Fringe" (formerly known as "The Unknown Poet's Society") out of Jasper. "The Fringe" has played for several events at the College as well as at a local festival and grand opening or two. There are a couple of very brief videos of us playing at the Discover Cordova Festival over on my myspace site.
Both bands play mostly classic rock (Beatles, Stones, Elvis, Hendrix), Blues and some classic country (Johnny Cash, Hank SR.). We also do a bit of orignal material. I sing lead on two or three songs that I have written, but mostly I just play guitar.
Classic Rock, Blues, Folk, Rock-a-Billy, Surf (the same stuff I was listening to in Midfield).
Thanks for writing. We should figure out a way to get together this summer. I get to Bhm Monday afternoon, June 21. Did you know Joe Hill is Stephen King's son?? I read his book the Heart Shaped Box about a year ago..really good. I heard a bout a new one titled the passage, by Justin Cronin...similar to the Stand. I read Dark Hollow 5-6 months ago. I like Connolly. Not reading anything at the moment...busy getting ready to leave in two weeks. Seriously, lets figure out a way to get together sometime, maybe for lunch or something, maybe half-way between there and birmingham or something. Check you later, my friend
thanks for the greetings. Alomost time to travel home for the summer. How are things with you. Read anything good lately??? I enjoy trading book ideas with you. Maybe we could get together sometime this summer face to face. Take care and thanks for writing
I get home June 21st, will be there two months
I'm not on Facebook yet, I have a deactivated account I could crank back up quickly if push comes to shove, which may happen. I'm in a holding pattern to see what happens here on this site, if things go south I'll consider getting the old Facebook account back up and running. I'll search all you good folks out and try to develop the same sense of community we now all enjoy here.
