I came to Midfield in the summer of 1988 hired as the new colorguard instructor when Mrak Elrod and David McDaniel became the new directors for the band. I was a music major at U of A at the time studying to be a band director myself. I graduated in 1089 from UA and got a job in Birmingham City Schools teaching beginning band and that allowed me to have time to continue teaching the colorguard at Midfield. I eneded up stayin almost 9 years and lasting through three different band directors. I made lots of friends over those years both in the students and their parents. It was a great place to be at that time. It was one of the best experiences of my life.
Hey, Phillip! I was in the first colorguard that you taught in 1988-1989. That was the greatest year I think that we ever had and of course we loved hanging out with you. It was always me, Tammy and Lisa that hung out together.
Mr. B!! I don't know if you remember me??;-) I was a colorguard in '90 and '91..along with rissia-- tonia joined us in '91 I think!! my mind is bad, I hope my years are accurate!! having babies depletes brain cells ya know? it's great to see you're doing well!! I miss those times and all those competitions we won;-)
Please tell Keyla to contact me. I have asked several people if they know where she is. Get her on here if she is not or my e-mail is PBerryhill@aol.com....Victoria too! I lost touch with her after she was in school in Tuscaloosa.
Shortly before my husband deployed in July of 2005 we discovered we were expecting baby #2. We were thrilled and Lorelei was excited about having a sibling. However, during my second sonogram in late October the doctor discovered the baby's heartbeat had stopped. And no explaination has ever been given for the baby's sudden death. Bo was not able to come back from his deployment to be with me, so my mom came to NC to help out since I would have to go to the hospital. It was just a completely horrible time for us, being apart and mourning the baby's death alone. We named our baby Erran Bryton. I never imagined I would have to deal with something like that. When Bo returned, we decided to try one last time for baby #2. And now we have our beautiful baby boy, Lucas. We have decided not to tempt fate again and are settled with having Lorelei and Lucas. However, we talk of Erran often and have one sonogram photo framed and placed in our room with the pictures of Lorelei and Lucas. Bo and I are confident we will see baby Erran again when the Lord calls us home.
Hey Phillip. I am not sure if you remember me. I was a member of the first gaurd that you taught at MHS. I barely remember it myself. I can't believe it has been almost 20 years ago. What I do remember is that we were very lucky to have you to teach us. We did some really cool stuff that year. Although I will admit I was not crazy about the flat spin throw. I hit myself in the head so many times practicing. Come to think of it, that may be the reason I barely remeber things from that time in my life. Just kidding. I hope things are well with you. I mostly work alot and run after Alex. She never stops. Talk to you soon.
